The Arnoldo Solórzano Thompson Center for Entrepreneurship CEAST, for its name in Spanish – is INCAE’s answer to the DR-CAFTA ratification. It is anticipated that this free trade agreement will significantly affect existing industries in terms of tariff reductions and increases in access quotas for industries, such as sugar, meat, peanuts, and textiles, among others. Additionally, it is expected that DR-CAFTA will trigger the development of new industries.
For INCAE, the creation and growth of sustainable companies are key activities for a country’s economic and social development. Therefore, our responsibility is to contribute in such a way so that companies can take advantage of the opportunities that DR-CAFTA represents and thus develop within new industries.
CEAST was founded on these premises and created in order to positively influence key elements facilitating the creation of a favorable business climate. This increases a company’s chances for success and contributes to INCAE’s mission of actively promoting the integral development of the countries it serves. CEAST will allow entrepreneurs and small and medium Central American companies to take advantage of free trade opportunities.
CEAST will not only help new entrepreneurs bring their innovative ideas to life, but it will also provide participating companies with office space, operating infrastructure, technical support, financing, and advice from professors, researchers and students through interaction in three basic areas:
