The Environmental Management Program for the Latin American Financial Sector was developed by the Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung (InWent) and the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development – (CLACDS in Spanish) at the INCAE, partners in the Ecobanking Project, in order to support the Latin American financial sector in encouraging better international practices to introduce environmental considerations into their own activities. The Program's purpose is to support the region's financial sector in its efforts to keep current in the practices used by large international banks to deal with environmental questions. The idea is to help the sector assimilate the most advanced analysis criteria and operating instruments in the world so they can incorporate the environmental perspective in business' functional areas. Thus, it is expected that this sector will increase its capacity to create value for its customers/clients and for Latin American countries, based on taking better advantage of the big business opportunities that open when the environmental and financial arenas achieve proper integration.
