| 010 | Strengthening Production Sectors Through Innovation (Spanish). | - Loría, Luis E. - López, Luis E. |
| The idea that knowledge is a significant production input and a critical factor in creating wealth for countries increasingly consolidates itself. Labor, particularly low-cost, unskilled labor, has played a role in the creation of jobs but not in the expansion of wealth. Therefore, countries should seek a development model where innovation through the utilization of economically useful knowledge, can effectively be integrated into production processes. Several countries have adopted policies for macroeconomic stabilization, trade opening, and elimination of distortions. Through these policies they have attained significant achievements, but still inadequate to provoke an economic evolution driven by the “creating destruction forces.” To achieve this, traditional policies should go hand in hand with policies promoting innovation and the emergence of entrepreneurialism. | ||
