This paper aims at analyzing the 1998 Competitiveness Report for Central America to establish a regional agenda on a per-country basis, based on competitive gaps perceptible when comparing the competitive performance of Central American countries with that of a given country with relatively more progress and higher competitive performance. Thus, priority attention areas are identified in each country to create a regional agenda with an eye to subsequently point out the tasks required to overcome competitive disadvantages restricting the region's development in the framework of global competitiveness.
