Many countries have considered promoting the development of domestic electronic products industries, due to growing demand for those products. This paper studies competitive possibilities for the electronic components and related services industry, taking into account the positioning of Central American countries. The region must profit from the comparative advantage resulting from its strategic geographical location to obtain the maximum benefit from trade agreements giving it access to the U.S. market. In addition, it analyzes Professor Michael Porter's Competitiveness Diamond, as well as action areas to improve Central America 's business climate and the evolution and structure of the electronic component industry in each country of the region. Finally an action framework is offered describing opportunities and strategic action to develop clusters in the electronic component industry in Central America .
