Guatemala's tourism industry has huge potential thanks to the archeological monuments, the different cultures living in the country, and the country's natural resources. This report presents the tourism industry's situation in the country from both the supply and demand sides. It analyzes how the industry has evolved over the past years, the primary national and international tourism features, and the income this industry generates for the economy. On the supply side, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are analyzed for the more important tourism products and services of the country. Finally, the role played by the sector authorities is analyzed and recommendations are given for the reforms needed to develop the tourism industry in Guatemala.
