The Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of professionals, specialized in distinct areas of study. Since the Center's creation, these professionals have dedicated themselves to specific and systematic research, both in Central America, as well as other countries in Latin America, in areas such as agro-industry, tourism, environment, natural disasters, education, capital markets, macroeconomics, customs, transport infrastructure, investment promotion, and institutional reform.
With the goal of strengthening CLACDs, during 2002, the Center adopted a matrix scheme for coordination of work, in which the Center's direction is shared between the Associate Dean, responsible for academic quality and work technicals, and the Executive Director, responsible for maintaining and expanding the network of international contacts and managing financial resources for the development of research and projects. Both directors bring together their capacities and functions to ensure that the work of the Center is kept within its objectives and strategic focuses.
