Majors

Economics and Finance

The Economics and Finance major is the first, and actually the only one, in its kind in Latin America. It combines elements of the masters of business administration and the masters of economics programs. The result: highly flexible professionals who are able to skillfully perform in management positions or as top public servants.

From a management point of view, professionals choosing this major can understand the trends and effects of economic policy. From a government standpoint, they can serve as effective managers bringing private sector interests into proposals for and implementation of economic policy.

Sustainable Development

This major combines management decision-making with cutting-edge ideas about sustainable development. It provides a practical response to the key issue of the new millennium and trains individuals to move from concern to practical action.

The program meets the need to develop and implement sustainable development strategies for organizations, countries, and regions. Also, it ensures top training in the rational use of natural and energy resources in the continent.

Industry and Technology

This major was created in order to enable managers to lead the production transformation required by Latin America as it opens itself to global competition.

Students choosing this major have a privileged view of the direction for this change, as the major combines a management point of view with a technical / operational vision for production.

The concrete, practical content of this major vis-à-vis the challenges faced by Latin America enables students to manage technology and to facilitate quality achievements.

Field Work / Management Consulting Practice (MCP)

Students will apply the knowledge they have acquired during the Program through their Management Consulting Practice (MCP) conducted at the firm or industry they choose. The MCP aims at giving students an adequate degree of contact with company / organizational life in their own countries.

The MCP is conducted with groups made up of three to five students at a company or organization of their choice, under the supervision of a teaching faculty member.

The task includes a comprehensive diagnosis of the organization, a competitive strategy, and an implementation plan including a definition of activities, individuals responsible, implementation periods, coordination mechanisms, and an evaluation of financial impact.

The MCP has three key components: analysis of the environment; industry analysis, and strategy development.

NOTE:

During the second year of the program, courses are taught 50% in Spanish and 50% in English. Therefore, during the first year of the program, students will take a test on their knowledge of the English Language. Students who do not meet the minimum level desired, will receive one to six courses in English with the aim of improving their level in the language, in order to pursue these courses.
