The Masters in International Agribusiness Management (MIAM) Program began in June 2007. It was jointly developed by INCAE Business School and the Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE). The program was designed to encourage the rural sector in Latin America to participate in the increasingly globalized market by integrating production chains of forest and agricultural goods and their by-products through sustainable management practices.
To attain this goal, the Program allows students to develop their abilities to start successful business ventures in different areas of the production chains mentioned above. In addition, it helps them meet the requirements of a growing free trade world and to orient their business firms towards specific demands from international markets.
The program emphasises on practical and analytical tools wich allow students to confront common challenges related to rural entrepreneurial development in Latin America, such as a lack of rural infrastructure, poor legal and political frameworks, and diverse cultural and socioeconomic realities.
This joint Masters Program is also aimed at staff from different organizations and service suppliers wishing to promote rural development through increased success for rural enterprises.
