A professor, consultant and businessman, Dr. Alfaro, from Guatemala, joined INCAE in 1986. He has been the academic director of several training programs for the public and private sectors and non-governmental organizations. He specializes in Institutional Analysis, Finance for Development, Micro Finance and Economic and Social Development. He’s a member of the world Microfinance Network in MBA programs and the Academy of Management (AOM).
Professor Juan Carlos Barahona is from Costa Rica. He obtained his Ph.D in Media, Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also has an MBA from INCAE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis on computer science from Universidad Internacional de las Américas, Costa Rica.
Esteban Brenes, from Costa Rica, specializes in strategy and entrepreneurship. He has lectured at the business schools of universities like Michigan, Chicago and Duke. He’s a visiting professor at Cotrugli Business School in Croatia. He has taught in tailor-made programs for Carlsberg, Coca Cola, Oracle, CEMEX, Citibank, Chiquita, among others.
Professor María Elena Carballo, from Costa Rica, obtained her Ph.D in Literary Studies from Brandies University in the United States. She wrote her dissertation on El Otoño del Patriarca, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and the Hispanic novel during the dictatorship. Before joining INCAE, she was Fulbright-LASPAU scholar for three years, and for two consecutive years, she also received the Hirschfeld Fellowship at Brandeis Unversity. The book La Casa Paterna, which she co-authored, won the national essay award in 1993 in Costa Rica.
He’s a specialist in innovation management, business competitiveness, and business in emerging economies. He has over twenty-five years of experience in teaching, research, consulting, and management of academic institutions. He has been an advisor to different governments in the region (Brasil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and several Caribbean countries).
Luciano Ciravegna, and assistant professor from Italy, holds a Ph.D. from the Development Studies Institute at the London School of Economics and an M.P.A. from the University of Oxford. At the same time, he has a degree in Economic History from the London School of Economics.
Prof. Clancy is renowned as an expert in topics of gender diversity and women leadership. She has succeeded in a predominantly male environment. She has a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Harvard University, where she was a Faculty member. At INCAE, she is a professor and Research Director of the Center for Women’s Leadership. She has presented at numerous conferences and training programs at multinational companies like Coca-Cola, INTEL, General Mills, HP, P&G, and HSBC.
Tenured Professor at INCAE since 1994. Served as Nicaragua’s Ambassador to the United States and Canada. Earned a BA in Political Science at American University, a Masters in International Relations Johns Hopkins, and he obtained his Doctorate in Modern History from the University of Oxford. Renowned expert in Latin American and US Foreign Policy.
He’s a Marketing Professor in INCAE’s full-time MBA. He has more than fifteen years of teaching experience in Latin America and the United States. He has lectured in over 200 seminars, workshops, and conferences in the U.S, Central and South America. In administration, he has served as INCAE’s Secretary General, Director of Master Programs and Dean.
