In 2016, Mariela García de Fabbri, a Peruvian graduate from INCAE's 2008 EMBA Program and CEO of Ferreycorp was chosen as Distinguished Graduate for her extraordinary, multifaceted impact on the region.

In her 30-year professional practice she has always adhered to sound ethical principles and a drive to contribute to the good of the region's societies. According to Ms. García, she learned these values as a graduate student at INCAE.

"Training time at INCAE was highly valuable to my career, not only because of the technical knowledge I acquired but also because of INCAE's approach to training leaders with responsibility in connection with their environment and their societies," said Mariela.

Mariela is part of a group of Peruvian leaders contributing to the business sector. She has done so not only from her position at Ferreycorp, which she has held for 28 years, but also through participation in a number of business organizations and initiatives. Currently she serves as General Manager at Ferreycorp S.A., a Peruvian-based corporation with subsidiaries in several Latin American countries.

In addition, Mariela serves in the board of AmCham Perú and Sociedad Perú 2021. Also, she sits on advisory boards at major Peruvian universities and is part of the Círculo de Compañías de la Mesa Redonda Latinoamericana de Gobierno Corporativo (Companies Circle). The Companies Circle brings together 20 Latin American companies excelling for good corporate governance practices. Mariela chaired the Circle from 2010 to 2013.

During her outstanding career Mariela sat on the board of Procapitales, where she chaired the Corporate Governance Committee. Also, she has served as Director of IPAE, COSAPI, Peru's National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy, and as member of the Consultative Committee of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT).

"This award is a token of the pride we take in people like Mariela who continue to stand for our values and our mission," said INCAE Rector Enrique Bolaños. "Thanks to her example, we can assure that through leadership training we are actively promoting development. Congrats, Mariela."
