Eduardo Luis Montiel | INCAE Master Programs

Biography

Full professor at INCAE in the areas of banking and finance. He received a doctorate from Harvard University and a Master of Science degree from the Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He served as Dean of INCAE and has held important positions in the public sector of Nicaragua as Minister of Finance and as Coordinator of the Economic Cabinet. He was founder and first Presidential Delegate of ProNicaragua, the main investment promotion agency in the country. Dr. Montiel was President of the Board of the Superintendency of Banks of Nicaragua, Director of the Central Bank of Nicaragua and Governor of the Inter-American Development Bank and BCIE. Advisor to various private firms, banks and non-profit organizations in the region. He is the author of four books and more than 70 articles, cases and technical notes.

Work Experience

Professor Montiel served as Nicaraguan Minister of Finance and Coordinator of the Economic Cabinet under President Enrique Bolaños. He was also founder and first Presidential Delegate of ProNicaragua, the leading investment promotion agency in the country. He was previously Dean of INCAE. He has served on numerous boards in the private and public sector. Dr. Montiel was President of the Board of the Banking Supertendency in Nicaragua, the main banking regulator in the country, Director of the Central Bank as well as Governor of the Interamerican Development Bank and BCIE, leading regional development banks. He has also been director of regional private banks, insurance companies, foundations, and nonprofit institutions. He was a researcher at Harvard Business School and serves as advisor to multinationals, local companies and international organizations.
