Octavio Martínez Argüello is a Professor of Competitive and Corporate Strategy at INCAE Business School. He has worked as a consultant in creating and implementing strategic plans, as well as in evaluating investment projects of companies in the food and beverage, agribusiness, energy, and real estate sectors. Previously, he worked in operations management of retailing at Walmart Mexico and Central America. He received a doctorate degree in Business Strategy from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management. He has an MBA with Honors from INCAE Business School and a degree in Industrial Engineering (Cum Laude) from Universidad Americana (UAM). His academic research on vertical integration strategy and geographic locations of companies has been awarded several times by the Academy of Management, the worlds leading professional association of business administration academics. He has been invited to lecture at Harvard University (HBS), the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton), New Yok University (NYU Stern), the Washington University in St Louis (Olin), Instituto de Empresa (IE), Duke University, Boston University and Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Before receiving his doctorate, he worked as a Senior Researcher at INCAE, where he developed a collection of 15 teaching cases used in the Masters and Executive Education programs in Latin America. This collection includes topics of business and financial strategy, competitiveness, marketing and sales in multinational and local companies.
