Donor Highlight: PriceSmart and the Price family contribute to INCAE

PriceSmart and the Price Family donated $100,000 to INCAE to support its work in the Region. When confirming the donation, Sherry Bahrambeygui, CEO of PriceSmart stated: “On behalf of PriceSmart, we would like to express our appreciation for the important role you play in the region. We are a firm believer that education is critical to providing a path for a better quality of life and is also an important feature of helping keep the community safe and businesses on solid footing”.

In a recent statement on their website, PriceSmart highlighted: “INCAE intends to continue providing expert advice to the public and private sectors in the region to provide safe economic reopening plans. In this regard, several initiatives are being implemented, including the event held on July 15, in which INCAE honored 121 students in its first-ever virtual graduation ceremony”.

INCAE's support in the region amidst the COVD-19 crisis includes offering its academic and technical expertise; working with the national Task Forces in different countries; advising governments on a macroeconomic, sectoral and community level; offering a series of webinars on how to navigate the current situation from a business standpoint; and creating crisis management protocols; among other initiatives to support its students, alumni and allies.

Michelle Johnson, Director of Institutional Advancement at INCAE highlighted the importance of this relationship: “Financial limitation is listed as one of the top reasons why admitted students don’t enroll in the INCAE MBA. The current pandemic has made it more difficult for students to obtain loans for higher education. Thanks to close allies such as PriceSmart and the Price Family, who share INCAE’s commitment to Latin America's sustainable development, we can continue to help form innovative leaders in the region”.
 

PriceSmart has been an ally to INCAE since 2009. In 2017, Robert Price, Chairman of PriceSmart and close friend of INCAE, was the commencement speaker during INCAE’s MBA Graduation. During the ceremony, he shared: “INCAE embodies the highest ideals and standards in University education. INCAE is a jewel that makes enormous contributions to the progress of Central America and other Caribbean countries”.
