Henry A. Fernandez, Chairman and CEO of MSCI Inc., member of the INCAE Presidential Advisory Council and friend of INCAE, signed The Henry A. Fernandez Financing Agreement on December 14, 2020. The Fund will initially be seeded with $1 million and will support the brightest minds of Latin America pursue their MBAs and join a network of more than 8,700 INCAE graduates.

The Henry A. Fernandez Financing Agreement will function as a warranty for banks in Central and South America to provide INCAE students with loans with preferential rates and deferred payments. “This is an investment in the future of Latin America. I trust the MBA students who benefit from it will become ethical leaders who will make a difference in their companies and communities” stated Henry Fernandez.

INCAE attracts and trains Latin America’s future leaders who seek to be agents of change in their societies and provides them with a world-class education rooted in the Harvard Business School Case Methodology. However, in a Region marked by inequality, an average of 93% of incoming students require financial aid. Options are extremely limited with loans often requiring high levels of collateral.

“This is not only an investment instrument that will allow us to support our students, it is a commitment to the future development and sustained growth of our Region. Thanks to this Fund, INCAE students will have access to a new financial instrument, more like a traditional student loan, with preferential rates and deferred payments. " Rector Enrique Bolaños mentioned.

The Henry A Fernandez Financing Agreement is part of the INCAE Student Financing Fund, which Fernandez proposed earlier this year during the INCAE Presidential Advisory Council meeting. Several members positively responded, quickly turning Fernandez’s innovative idea into reality, ensuring that the best students, regardless of their financial need, have an opportunity to pursue their dream of an INCAE degree.
